Psychotherapeutic Counselling (online and face to face)

Many of us, at some point in life, find things difficult and feel unable to talk to those around us, don't have anyone to talk to, or feel we could benefit from professional help. It's called being human - life is tough sometimes.

Based in Edinburgh / East Lothian, we offer counselling for a variety of reasons - including but not limited to bereavement, depression, anxiety / stress, relationship or family issues, career or life stage issues (eg work induced exhaustion and stress, career change, mid-life, childlessness, illness or retirement), low self esteem, abuse, trauma and addiction.

The principles of truth and choice underpin our work. We work in a way which facilitates honest conversation and the realisation that there are always options, no matter how constraining circumstances might seem. We seek to enable people to live the life they want to live rather than the life they think they should live (or somehow have just ended up living), which involves identifying and working with deeply embedded and often unconscious (until we become aware of them) ways of being in the world. It also involves courage. We believe the only way out of our problems is through them, even if that feels difficult at first.

Our work is influenced greatly by Brene Brown who has touched many lives with her research into and insights about the power of vulnerability, and the sometimes crippling effect of shame. If you'd like to hear Brene speak, grab a cuppa and settle down for 20 minutes to watch this.
